According to what sort of help you need there are many places to turn to for advice and support.
Some of you will already be linked to umbrella organisations such as NODA, Making Music or the Keep
Fit Association who have developed a specialist Artform service over the years, some have officers
working for them, some may offer member 'perks' such a insurance deals, or have a resource library
you can tap into. Others of you will know your local Arts Development Agency or the Arts Development Officer at the council who may also be able to help with advice. Then across York and North Yorkshire
there is a network of Local Infrastructure Organisations or LIOs which are an excellent resource for
voluntary organisations. Locally known as the CVS or Volunteer Bureau you will find that they offer
training and advice on issues that affect all voluntary groups – such as legislation compliance, setting
up a group, writing constitutions, becoming a charity, being a trustee etc. The Voluntary Arts Network
and Voluntary Arts England have been supporting the voluntary and amateur sector for many years and
their websites are a mine of information.
We have grouped the different places you can turn to for support and advice in a way we hope will be helpful.
And don’t forget that there may be other groups in the Celebrate! network who could help you – why not check
out the members section?
